In todays world of telecommunication the countryside is traversed by many communication links. Some of them are directional and some not. Wind Turbines contain a lot of metal and are tall structures having the potential to disturb critical signals when e.g. blades are crossing the path of a microwave link (it's the lightning conductor in the blades potentially affecting the signal).
This is an important consideration in the design of a wind farm although mitigation is usually simple and not too costly. But as always it is better to know of any potential issues upfront than getting a nasty surprise during the permitting process. Therefore a detailed analysis of existing microwave, television and other communication signals in relation to the wind farm should be conducted.
